Emergency Preparedness

One of UCAN's top priorities is to improve our neighborhood's preparedness for emergencies, including earthquakes and wildfires. Our goal is that each block or street will have a well-organized emergency preparedness and response program, with annual exercises, identified block captains, stores of resources, etc. The current members of the Emergency Preparedness Committee are Carrie Avery, Steven Berger, Christine Boylan Carr, Tim Campbell, Laura Clydesdale, Laurie Dornbrand, Sandy Friedland, Evelyn Heller, Larry Hobel, Bernie Peyton, Kara Simone and Paul Valenstein.

Block By Block

Some of our neighborhood's blocks are already organized for the purpose of emergency preparedness, holding annual drills and gatherings. Others are not. Soon this section will display maps of each block, showing how they're organized, listing Block Captains, emergency gathering points and what resources UCAN has available.
